NOTIFICATION
1.In exercise of the powers
conferred by section 19 of the Legal Services
Authorities Act, 1987 (Act No. 39 of 1987), the Tripura
State Legal Services Authority hereby constitutes one
Permanent LOK ADALAT at State Level for the present
consisting of the following Members, namely -
1. Shri
B.B. Bhattacharjee, Retired, Addl. District & Sessions
Judge;
2. Shri
Debabrata Chakraborty, Advocate, Agartala Bar;
3. Smti.
Karabi Deb Barma, Retd. Principal,Women’s College,
Agartala and Social Worker.
2. The Permanent LOK ADALAT shall have jurisdiction to
determine and to arrive at a compromise or settlement
between the parties to a dispute in respect of -
i) any case pending before any Court and referred to the
LOK ADALAT by that Court under section 20 of the said
Act for settlement;
ii) any pre-litigative dispute, that is to say, any
dispute falling within the jurisdiction of a Court which
has not been brought before any Court, and such dispute
has been referred to the LOK ADALAT by the State Legal
Services Authority under section 20(2) ;
3. Every member of the LOK ADALAT shall get rupees two
hundred per sitting. The date, time and place of such
sitting shall be notified by the State Authority.
4. The Permanent LOK ADALAT may be assisted by not more
than two lawyers engaged by the State Authority. Every
such lawyer shall get rupees one hundred fifty per
sitting. Ministerial support and other logistics shall
be provided by the State Authority.
5. The notification shall take immediate effect.

2. The permanent LOK ADALATS shall have the jurisdiction
to determine and to arrive at a compromise or settlement
between the parties to a dispute in respect of-
i) any case pending before any court and referred to the
LOK ADALAT by that court under section 20 of the said
Act for settlement;
ii) any pre-litigative dispute, that is to say, any
dispute falling within the jurisdiction of a court which
has not been brought before any court :
Provided that the LOK ADALAT shall have no jurisdiction
in respect of any case or matter relating to an offence
not compoundable under any law.
3. The LOK ADALAT shall ordinarily sit within the Court
compound in respective district headquarters and in such
other places as may be notified. The date and time shall
be notified by LOK ADALAT.
4. The LOK ADALAT may be assisted by not more than two
lawyers engaged by the respective District Authority.
Every such lawyer shall get rupees one hundred fifty per
sitting. Ministerial support and other logistics shall
be provided by the State or District Authority.
5. The notification shall take immediate effect.
