State Authority and its Constituents
State Legal Services Authority : The Tripura State Legal
Services Authority (for short, TSLSA) constituted on the
1st day of July, 1998, consists of the Hon’ble the Chief
Justice of the Gauhati High Court as the
Patron-in-Chief, a serving Judge of the said High Court
as the Executive Chairman and the Member- Secretary with
8 (eight) other ex-officio Members and 6 (six) nominated
Members indicated in Annexure- ‘A’.
District Legal Services Authority : 3 (three) District
Legal Services Authorities namely (1) West Tripura
District Legal Services Authority, West Tripura,
Agartala (2) South Tripura District Legal Services
Authority, South Tripura, Udaipur and (3) North Tripura
District Legal Services Authority, North Tripura,
Kailashahar constituted on the 1st day of July, 1998
consist of the District Judge as the Chairman, 6 (six)
ex-officio Members, 3(three) nominated Members and the
Civil Judge (Senior Division) as the ex-officio Member -
Secretary. Details of the present Members of the
District Legal Services Authorities are as indicated in
Annexure- ‘B’.
High Court Legal Services Committee : The High Court
Legal Services Committee, Tripura constituted on the
11th day of March, 1999 consists of a sitting Judge of
the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court as the Chairman, 2 (two)
ex-officio Members and 5 (five) nominated Members with
the Registrar of the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court,
Agartala Bench as the ex-officio Secretary. The present
set up of the Committee is as indicated in Annexure-‘C’.
Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee : There are 11
(eleven) Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committees namely Sadar, Bishalgarh, Khowai, Sonamura, Udaipur, Belonia,
Amarpur, Sabroom, Kailashahar, Dharmanagar and Kamalpur.
The aforesaid Committees except Bishalgarh
Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee was constituted
on the 9th day of July, 1998. The Bishalgarh
Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee was constituted
on the 12th day of May, 2009. All the aforesaid
Sub-Divisional Committees consist of Civil Judge (Senior
Division) as the Chairman, 7(seven) ex-officio Members
and 3(three) nominated Members with Civil Judge (Junior
Division) as the ex-officio Member - Secretary. At
present, the Additional District & Sessions Judges are
the Chairmen of the Sub-Divisional Committees except Bishalgarh, Amarpur and Sabroom Sub-Divisional
Committees where Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrates are
the Chairmen of those Committees. Details of the present
Members of the said Committees are as indicated in
Annexures- D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K, L ,M & N respectively.
